The Use of SEO Keyword Density to Enhance Website Traffic

The percentage of the number of times that your targeted keyword is mentioned in your web page when compared the total number of words is the seo keyword density.  It is important to realize that the spiders of search engines index a particular web page based on those words or phrases that have the most number of occurrences.  This is one of the primary ways by which the search engines are able to discern the topic or focus of the content of your web page.  Thus, SEO keyword density has always played an important role in the effort to improve the rank of your website in the search engine results pages (SERPs).  Aside from the density, the location of the keywords on the page is also vital.

However, it is also important to avoid keyword overstuffing.  The different search engines vary with regards to their rule on the maximum keyword density that is permitted or they will not include the URL of your web page in the SERPs.  Google, which is the dominant search engine, has the lowest limit when it comes to maximum keyword density.  While the other search engines can let you have an SEO keyword density that is as high as five percent, Google will only permit a density of two percent.  An important strategy is to comply with the Google maximum of two percent and make sure that the content reads well for site visitors who could be your customers or clients in the future.

You will also have to take into account the actual type size of the keyword and whether it is in bold face or it is italicized.  Another factor that could influence the rank of the web page in the SERPs that emerge when someone searches for your targeted keyword is the presence of the keyword in the page title.  It is vital to make sure that you target only one keyword when you are applying the SEO keyword density technique, particularly if this keyword is very competitive.

It is also essential to make sure that the title for every web page has your targeted keyword.  Another important factor is a site map that links to the various supporting web pages that in turn lead to the primary page.  You will also have to make sure that the anchor text for each of the links going to the main page have the targeted keyword.  Finally, it is also important to have linking partners who will have links on their own sites that lead to your main page. This is a good post, there’s a lot being said about SEO at the moment but you’re just kind of expected to understand everything about it. It helps when someone explains the technical stuff behind it in a bit more detail, so thank you

I’m sure you’re right. The problem with this is that long-tailed keywords can be pretty awkward to work into a title. Is there any way you can be more specific about keyword density?

I see ridiculously worded articles ranked at number 1 in some search engines. Do you think Google will ever catch up with language? The choice seems to be whether to communicate with search engines or people.

The sad thing is that you won’t get read if you don’t cater to SEO restrictions.

  10. Great post. I think it is always best to create content for people, but with SEO in mind. I think too often SEO beginners focus too much on getting those keywords in and they forget that their audience are people not Google’s crawlers. The result is keyword redudancy and flat content. Nice read, very spot on.

I find I get pretty good results when using only 1% keyword density. I always try to remember to write for humans not robots and up until now its worked well for me. Thanks for the article – I learned a few useful tips!

I can see the title of your blog post being optimized for keywords, but there’s no need anymore to have to worry about keyword density because of the Google snippets.

Google’s algorithm is smart enough to pick up the keywords all throughout your content, and sometimes they will change your title to make it more useful for readers.

So just write naturally. There’s really no need anymore to worry about keyword density.

  16. Joy from Housebreaking Shih Tzu says:

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a web site or a web page in search engines via the “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. Other forms of search engine marketing (SEM) target paid listings. In general, the earlier (or higher on the page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives a web site web presence. Your blog has all this so I Guess this is a great help to those in need.

  17. Søkemotoroptimalisering says:

I see people here typing that keyword density isn’t that important any more – well, I have to disagree. keyword edensity is as much important now as before, but the important thing is to find the correct mix, both for the readers point of view, and the SE crawling the page!

  18. Andrew from xena Halloween costume says:

In the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) world, frequency is actually referred to as density. Keyword density is a measure of the number of times your keyword appears on a page expressed as a percentage of the total wordcount of that page. The keyword density tool is useful for helping webmasters and SEOs achieve their optimum keyword density for a set of key terms. Keyword density is important because search engines use this information to categorize a site’s theme, and to determine which terms the site is relevant to.

What do think about videos in your weblog posts to hold the people a lot more entertained? I indicate I just understand in the overall article of yours also it was quite good but considering that I’m more of a visual learner,I discovered that to be far more very helpful. Just my my idea

  20. Jack says:

Not shure about 2% density for Google and 5% for Yahoo/Bing. I think 5% for Google it’s not critical.

  21. In my opinion any density is ok as long as the text sounds natural.Although, I wouldn’t recommend exceeding the 5% limit…
