Fact:- 70% to 90% (depending on source you read)of all search engine traffic comes from Google. So a high rank on Google is increasingly important. Here is a brief guide on some of the most important factors.
(1) Keywords (research your market)
You need to focus SEO on the right keywords. You need the research the popular keywords and target them.
Hint:- try to find keyword phrases with at least 2000 searches per month.
There are a variety of tools to help find the right keyword phrases for your industry and lookup how many searches per month are going on, like the overture tool, or the Google adwords programme (free). You can use more automated tools such as Internet Business Promoter or market samurai, these tools cost money but dramatically speed up the process by automation.

You can rank for your chosen keyword by using the keywords on your titles in your webpages, and in your domain name, and in descriptions of links and images, DON’T stuff your website full of your chosen keywords, Google will think its spam, use your keywords sparingly but in the right places, especially in titles.
(3) Getting a high rank on Google (how to rank high on google)
There are many factors but the most important is essentially done by getting several backlinks. You need to get incoming links ideally with the referring chosen keywords or using words associated to your chosen keywords on the referring link.
You can get incoming links from all kinds of sources, including article directories, business directories, ezines, search engine directories and websites in your same niche on their links pages.
Hint:- Try to get links from websites with at least a PR rank of 2, you can get free plugins for your web-browser to quickly see the PR rank of any website you are on. But quantity is still important so try to get 1000+ backlinks at least.
Hint:- Many search engines will show you the backlinks of your competitors so use these to your advantage, Google hides most of this so don’t bother with Google here. Yahoo is a very good candidate here.
