How do you go about driving traffic to your website?  You need to come up with a good SEO plan.  It’s fun to see what you can do with SEO, especially how to target a customer.

I learned from entrepreneur, David Jenyns that I’d like to talk to you about CPA (cost per action) accounts.  They have special targeting features that can bring lots of traffic to your website.  Take about $300-500 and run an ad for a week.  Then see if the targeted traffic is converting or not.

Nearly all these kinds of websites have some kind of tracking code for you to check to see how well your traffic is converting. What you really want to do is not pay for the traffic but to get these companies on your side as your affiliate.

How it works is you pay them on a per sale basis.  This is where you have to test your flow of traffic to show them that you have a good conversation ratio.

There is big fraud in this type of business where 15-20% of the orders are not real.  What happens is you have these people from Russia buying up your product then returning it for a refund.  This type of activity doesn’t happen on the bigger network.  The downside to that is that your product is a lot harder to get accepted by them.  But don’t let that stop you.

I had this happen to me on a big ISP provider years back.  The banner advertising spot cost anywhere between $10,000 to $20,000 and I told them that I wasn’t willing to pay that and I wanted a cost per sale agreement.  They agreed and for months I had my banner running at the top of their home page.

If I look back and my internet marketing history, it is interesting to see just how I would do something if I started my business from scratch.  This is an extremely value exercise that you can do for yourself. I do a lot of testing to see how and which products perform the best.  So I recommend doing split testing if you can find some software to help you out with this.  You can do a search online and find many programs that would help you out in this area.

I find that many people don’t understand the realm of targeting traffic and how specialized you can get down to.  Many people target their niches way to tight.  When they thought they had only 8,000 searches and 4 people competing against, then they try out paid media and get blown wide open.

When you’re dealing with SEO, there is a process that you go through.  You start by getting indexed into the search engines, making it on to the first page, motivating people to click on your offer, finding an enticing way to get them to opt into your mailing list, then inspiring people to buy.  When we are talking about driving traffic with a paid media account, you can cut out these step and have great accomplishment at it.
