A Couple of SEO Myths
As most internet marketers know, SEO is a process learnt over many years. It is a process of learning from your mistakes, but one that stand them in good stead eventually. Unfortunately for many aspiring internet marketers nowadays, there is a whole host of misinformation flowing across the internet at the moment. A lot of this stuff is content that has been doing the rounds for many years. It is content that has been rewritten and then posted up again by people pertaining to know what they are talking about, but they don’t really. A couple of these myths are listed below.
The first myth is about page rank and how this can determine your websites rankings. This statement is a false one, full stop. Just search on Google for any keyword and you will see that sometimes PR 8 sites can be listed under PR 1 sites, and PR 0 sites regularly appear higher in the rankings than PR 3 and 4 sites. There are many factors that Google uses to figure out page rank, and none are more dominant than others.
The second myth is the one that states that all low competition keywords are just easy to rank for in the search engine results. Yet again, this is a false statement. While it is advisable to target the “low hanging fruit” as it were, you should make the mistake of searching out keywords that have under a specific amount of competition and just working with those.
If the truth be told, searching out these low competition keywords should only be the start of the research you should perform. It is possible for keywords with less than 2000 competition to be extremely hard to rank for, whereas others with 15-20,000 could turn out to be easy. There are other factors that should also be considered as well. Page optimisation, backlinks and strength of competing sites are all some of these factors.
